Buried in Yarn
Last week we had over 200 lbs of yarn delivered!! Wow, it took me all week to get unburied. Let's see... we got another HUGE order of Crystal Palace Splash. We got 6 bags of all the new spring colors. We also got tons of back ordered colors. We also received the rest of our Misti Alpaca Chunky Baby Alpaca yarn. We now have over 10 colors of this luscious yarn. We also got a couple colors of 24K from Plymouth. It is a glittery yarn that is similar to the Filtes King Lame. We also got tons of Plymouth Electra, Eros and Eros Glitz.

More Lighting
We added several new lights to help light up the store. I am very happy with the change. The back table is bright and two front lights really show off the Cascade 220, Noro, Frog Tree and Misti Alpaca colors.

Trendsetter Yarn has Arrived
It is official, Trendsetter arrived today. I was truly hoping for more colors, but alas, we received less than half of our order. The mills can't seem to keep up with the demand. We will do our best to make do until the rest of our order arrives. Truthfully, I am hesitant to even speculate when the rest might come. It took 3 months to get this shipment from our original order date. Stop by to see what has arrived. I will get photos of our new lines up as soon as possible.

Knitting as therapy

I am a very firm believer that there is such a thing as knitting therapy.

I could post an article everyday about kids knitting. This is truly wonderful!

Fellow third-grade teacher Michele Ruminer said, "Knitting is about decoding symbols in a pattern, multiplying and dividing, checking and rechecking your work," she said. "It helps kids in many areas of learning, besides giving them a real feeling of accomplishment."

Cincinnati Knitting Shop
I just finished up a Cascade Magnum hooded poncho. I will get a photo up shortly.

Knitting is popping up all over the media. I am amazed. I am seeing articles from Washington to Vermont. Here is just a sampling of my favorite articles.

Part of the appeal of knitting is that no mistake is permanent. You can rip it up and start over. Part of the appeal for Chinni and Nicole is staying inside instead of braving whatever winter is dishing out on the playground.

Lizzy Malouf set a copy of Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook by Debbie Stoller and a few skeins of brightly colored yarn on the knitting circle table.
....
"Knitting has a new image," Malouf said, citing new patterns available for punk rock accessories. "It's not the traditional, wholesome activity anymore."

And while it may still be an unfamiliar fad to the majority of Penn students, due to its increasing popularity -- as evidenced by knit clothing and the growing list of celebrity knitters, including Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz and Charlotte on Sex and the City -- knitting is slowly but surely establishing its popularity.
