Magic Opal Sock Yarn
Well, I will say this, Opal is keeping us on our toes. They just announced a new line called Magic. We have placed an order and hopefully we should see it in the next couple weeks. Here is what it looks like. I will post an announcement when we get it in the store. I have heard this is just the first of several new lines Opal will be adding in 2004. Our plans are to always order every color Opal makes available. Several of our current lines are being discontinued, so what we have in stock might be all we will have. If you see a "Sold Out" on PT Yarn's web site, that means we will not be able to order any more skeins of that color. We might, however, still have that color in our store.

Closed New Year's Day
We plan to keep our normal hours tomorrow (10 AM - 7 PM). We will be closed on Thursday and return to normal business hours Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow begins the shelf building. I am looking forward to the added space we will soon have.

In case I don't get a chance to post before the New Year, Happy New Year's everyone!! I hope you all have a wonderful 2004. I know I am looking forward to it.

Crystal Palace Splash
We just got in another shipment of Splash. Our selection was looking a little meek, but now we have plenty of colors in-stock again. We are planning another order, which will give us every available color of Splash. We hope to have the new colors in the next couple weeks.

Opal Sock Yarn
The brand new hand-painted Opal is now in. Stop by and check it out! PT Yarn has a couple small knitted examples on their web site. It looks like it is not self-patterning , but it is variegated.

New Shelves
The wood is now in the store. We will be building on New Year's Eve and Day. We will probably not be completely done until Monday. We are doing our best to keep the store clean and well organized. Hopefully, the new shelves will give us some breathing room through the next fall knitting season.

Christmas Eve Day
Try as I might, not quite all of my Christmas projects got done. All the kids' projects got completed, the last one being at midnight last night. My two sweater gifts will be done in the next couple weeks. I have just the arms to finish on the Entrelac sweater I am knitting for my Mom. This sweater is being done with Noro Kureyon. The sweater for my sister-in-law is not quite as far along. The back is done, and the front is about 1/4 of the way. My sister-in-law chose the Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool for her sweater. I am making plans to be able to show photos of projects in their various stages of completeness.

Teenagers Knitting
We visited our neighbors last night and had a nice talk with them and their two teenage kids. Their son was telling us about a girl at his high school that takes her knitting with her and knits during lunch. It is nice to hear first hand how far knitting is now reaching. Everyone is talking about knitting is "hot" right now. Well, truth be told, I hope it is not just a fad. As with all fads, the trend eventually dies down. The 80s were known for their fads, and I am not sure a single one has survived the test of time. Funny thing about fads are they are completely out of your control. We are doing our best to spread the joy of knitting to as many people as we can. From there, what happens, happen.

Misc Store Notes
We are closed today through Sunday, December 28th. We will be open regular business hours Monday-Wednesday the following week. Closed Thursday, January 1st, then open again Friday and Saturday. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah everyone. I plan on posting again sometime this weekend, either Saturday, or more likely, Sunday.

Overflowing with Yarn... Again
The new yarns we just recently added from Kertzer: Kitty, Persia, and Ranee, pushed us over the edge. We are having trouble finding room for all the new yarn. Although this is mentioned in our newsletter, I will spoil the surprise here: we will be adding Trendsetter Yarns by the end of January. We are planning to initially bring in 4 lines. Look for new shelves and a rearranged store in the coming weeks.

Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool
We just got in a sweater knitted with the Silky Wool. If you were wondering how this knits up, be sure to check it out. We really love this yarn. It is light and very soft. The colors and pattern support is wonderful. Elsebeth Lavold Designer's Choice has some great sweater patterns. We are expecting a shipment of all 6 new colors in the very new future. We carry every color of Silky Wool and plenty of skeins to make a sweater.

Opal Hand-painted Yarns
For those of you who love Opal, we have something different from them on the way. Opal is now offering hand-painted sock yarns. Hopefully, it will be in within the next couple weeks. Of course, we will have every color available, as long as they are not back ordered. Check out PT Yarn site for more details.

Scarf Yarns
We are trying to keep up with the demand. Unfortunately, we are having a little trouble with back orders. We have brought in some new lines from Kertzer, Plymouth, and On Line to help bring in some variety. Of course Trendsetter will be a great addition to our selection of novelty yarns. We have already outlined our plans for spring. While I won't spoil that surprise just yet, I am very excited about the new, bright colors and lines we have scheduled to have in stock.

Cincinnati, OH Yarn Shop
I would like to take the time to say a little about myself and the purpose of this blog. I am the owner of Lambikin's Hideaway Yarn & Stitchery in Hamilton, OH. We have been open a little over a year. We are located right on Main Street in the Historic Business district of downtown Hamilton, OH. We are right across from the new Walgreen's, located on the corner of Main and Eaton.

I hope this blog will become a way for our customers, and potential customers, can learn about our latest news, updates of new products, sales, closings, and what I am currently working on. Although we try to keep our web site up-to-date, I feel this will be a better medium for you to come and quickly see what is happening at the store. If you have not yet visited our web site, be sure to check it out. It has a complete listing of all the yarns, patterns, and knitting needles we carry. Our site: http://www.lambikinshideaway.com.

Last Minute Christmas Gifts
Snow fell all day in Cincinnati today. It was nice to be able to stay in and knit. Christmas is right around the corner. Hopefully, you have finished all of your gifts. I am still furiously knitting those last minute projects. I am finishing up a pair of socks for my niece using Opal Sock yarn. I am also working on one of my favorite, not to mention, easy projects: bottle covers using Cascade Fixation. If anyone would like a pattern, I have plenty in the store. One ball makes 3 bottle covers. I have knitted scarves, socks, sweaters, and shawls for presents this year. I have used lots of the Plymouth Eros, On Line Linie Spot, and other fun novelty yarns. For the sweaters, I am using the Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool and Noro Kureyon.

Winter Newsletter
We are working hard on finishing our Winter Newsletter. It will include the new products we have added this past fall and our knitting classes for January - April. If you are on our customer list, you will get a newsletter in the mail close to the first of the year. We will be sending out an e-mail to let everyone know when it is posted to our web site, which should be just after the first of the year.
